After the tutorial, I drew each frame of the smoke scene.
And I improved the flower opening scene, changed the butterfly's flying path.

The flies animation

I did the animation of flies flying. I drew each frame of this part.

New Flower Texture

I changed the texture and colour of the flower.
I think the new one is much better than previous one, and I also add a frame layer to overlay the animation.
I am drawing each frame of flies.

the Garbage Hill

I did three new silhouettes for the garbage hill. I added many domestic garbage to make the outline of the garbage hill clear and beautiful.
I tried to create a layer of waste paper overlay the hill.

Rough video with Sound

I did a rough video for the animation to make clear the connection between scene 1 to 2.
I've requested a friend of my roomate to compose a soundtrack for my animation. He did a quite lovely soundtrack, but he just gave me the demo, and will record the soundtrack later.

Points I should Improve next

After the toturial on Thursday, there are some key points that I should improve.

• overlay a texture to make the animation look not so digital. The texture could be scanning paper or recycled materials.
• More character in the butterfly's flight.
• Soundtrack should be added in. Industrial and real sounds could be used in the soundtrack.
• Use the butterfly to link the scenes.
• The idea should have impact and focusing on one part.
  

And I try to add a texture by scanning in the animation.

Test Scene 1-2

This the latest test I did. I update so late because of applying MA couse. I have to do much research about my project proposal.
I will add jumping, active fish and waves in the pool. And I am considering to use painted lotus leaves with rough brushes. I will try this effect later.

The animtion I'm still doing is a silhouette animation.
My aim is to create a short animation which could raise awareness of the pollution issue and communicate the effect of pollution.
The animation is about a butterfly's trip in polluted enviroment. I want to make these ugly pollted things in a beautiful shape then the butterfly breaks these false appearances.
Here are my storyboards.

It's a sample I did that my animation should be.

The first sequence. A butterfly stops on a flower. Everything is peaceful, so I use light green as background colour.

There is a pond with lotus, active fish and small waves. The butterfly stops on a lotus.

Then water surface rises, the lotus and leaves are flooded.

There are some hills which are constructed by lots of gabages.

The butterfly flies to a flouriching tree. But when it stops in the tree, thousands of flies fly away. The tree is already dead.

Then many plastic bags come.

Some of them catch in the dead tree, floating in air.

Then we see the butterfly find a flower at close quarters. In fact, it's just smoke emitted from factory chimney.

The smoke surrounds and swallows the butterfly.

In the end, the butterfly is eaten and disapears with smoke.

I've searched a lot for my project to see how others to present ugly things in beautiful vision.

The video is made by Julien Vallee, who is constantly trying to create a universe that both communicates, and feels good to inhabit. I really like the concept -- the interesting interactive way between live action and animation.

On this basis, I'd like to do a better graphic composition, so I am trying to combine silhouette background with motion gaphics or animation.
